Pediatric dentistry
A pediatric patient has its own specifics and requires an individual approach. Working with children requires not only patience and empathy, but also the active cooperation of parents, especially in the area of daily hygiene. The youngest patients are often not yet able to brush their teeth thoroughly enough on their own, so it is important for parents to check the cleaning regularly, help with it and guide children towards good habits from an early age.
Our goal when treating a pediatric patient is not only healthy teeth, but also to build confidence. Only when the child feels safe can the treatment be carried out calmly, without stress and with a smile. It is the positive experiences in childhood that will greatly influence how a child will approach dental care in adulthood.
First visit? Just don’t stress.
The child should be introduced to the dentist as early as possible – ideally at a time when he or she does not need any treatment yet. The first appointment should be playful, casual and just to establish contact. The child will see the surgery, get to know the environment and the staff – all in a relaxed and unpressured way. An invaluable aid is analgosedation, which takes the fear out of fearful children.
